ELLE’s editors picked five trends from the Paris spring/summer 2027 shows, and the common thread is lightness — in fabric weight, in construction and in accessories.
Sheer dressing continued from previous seasons, from skin-baring looks with sculptural tailoring to whisper-thin slips at Tom Ford, Chanel and Balenciaga. Plaid went summery: classic checks appeared in lightweight suiting, airy dresses and knit ‘tweed’ at Chanel and Louis Vuitton.
Underwear moved outside. Bras and sport-inspired bralettes were worn as going-out tops, layered over technical base layers at Miu Miu, Stella McCartney, Courrèges and Hermès.
In footwear, Marie Antoinette was the reference: ultrafeminine mules with satin bows, rosettes and jewelled trims at Chanel, Lanvin and Vaquera. And handbags became lighter with fishnet and perforated totes at Hermès, Maison Margiela and Chanel.
For manufacturers these trends translate into concrete sourcing questions: fine voiles and chiffons, lightweight check suitings, technical jerseys for layering, decorative trims, and perforated or woven leathers.
