The eighth Intertex Tunisia international textile and fashion fair took place in Sousse from 22 to 24 October 2026 with 176 exhibitors, 72 of them from Türkiye, according to the Tunisian daily La Presse, as republished by AllAfrica. That makes Turkish companies roughly two in five of all exhibitors.
The fair was opened by Tunisia’s Minister of Trade and Export Development, Samir Abid, together with Türkiye’s ambassador to Tunisia, Ahmet Misbah Demircan. The ambassador pointed to Tunisia’s skilled workforce, its proximity to European markets and its export-oriented production capacity, and noted that Türkiye already supplies Tunisian industry with fabrics, chemicals, automotive parts and machine components.
Selçuk Yılmaz, president of the Tunisian-Turkish Chamber of Commerce and Industry, described the fair as a meeting point that brings Tunisian and Turkish operators closer and creates business opportunities. The model discussed in Sousse is one of industrial complementarity: Turkish fabrics and trims are imported, made up into garments in Tunisia, and the finished goods are exported to Europe.
The report gives no figures for the value of textile trade between the two countries, but the scale of the Turkish presence shows how fabric, yarn and accessory makers are following garment production to lower-cost Mediterranean and North African locations close to the EU.
