COMPANY HİSTORY

AKIN TEKSTIL is a leader of high quality concept production in the textile industry, a fundamental driver of the Turkish economy. The company has continually grown since its foundation in 1956 and has made great contributions to the Turkish economy.

AKIN TEKSTIL has developed into an icon for quality and continuity thanks to its dedicated staff and customer satisfaction philosophy. It has been increasing its exports every year as a result of its state of the art technologies, research and development activities and successful sales and marketing strategies.

Akın Tekstil is one of the 5 top fabric producers in Turkey and it takes pride in its know-how and experience. It has a vertically integrated production facility which enables the company to provide full service to their customers. Although it is a family business, the company has been successful in hiring professionals and managing the company in a more corporate manner. In addition to this it is a publicly traded company. All in all, it is a reliable company with a renowned financial strength.

Company History

1956 Akın Tekstil Limited has been founded by Rüştü Akın and Haydar Akın.

1956 Weaving actities have started in Bakırköy, Istanbul

1956 Looms, sizing and warping machinery bought from Czechoslovakia

1965 Exports realized through the Exporter’s Union

1966 Akın Tekstil Limited name has been converted to the name of Akın Tekstil A.Ş.

1967 Start-up of the spinning department, purchasing Rieter machinery

1968 Start-up of dyeing and finishing operations, the introduction of first Thermasol

dyeing machinery for teflon sylinder drying in Turkey

1970 The first company to use pigment dyeing in Turkey

1975 Membership to the Textile and Raw Material Exporter’s Union

1982 Introduction of the first air-jet looms in Turkey

1984 Direct exports to European countries

1986 Establishment of the garment division and the start-up of trouser manufacturing

1987 Start-up of garment production with 4 production lines

Establishment of Pattern Making department, automized pattern making systems,

creation of the first Akın collection

1989 Attendance to the international fairs for garments in CPD – Dusseldorf, Koln

Sportwear – Herrenmodewoche, Sehm – Paris

1990 Introduction of Airo finishing machinery

Automized cutting machinery

Establishment of a supply chain system through third-party production and a

department for order follow-up

Realizing of first colourful P.U application in Turkey

1993 Post-Cure anti-wrinkle application

1995 Construction of the Lüleburgaz plant

Tencel fabric production

1996 Start up of the dyeing and finishing department in Lüleburgaz

Initial Public Offering (IPO) of 15% of company shares
