Tape The fabric portion of the zipper on which the chain is mounted. Chain The metal or plastic scoops mounted on either side of the tape interlocking each other under the action of the slider. Slider The moving part of the zipper which opens and closes the fastener by separating the interlocking elements. The slider consists of a body and a puller and may incorporate a locking device. Puller The fitting attached to the slider body for manipulation or decorative purposes. Top Stop The stop adjacent to the slider when the fastener is fully closed. Bottom Stop The stop adjacent to the slider when the fastener is fully open. Open-End The device permitting the complete separation of the two stringers; it normally consists of a pin which fits into a box.
